Three of my four housemates were sick this week. This resulted in us being quarentined from Tuesday through the rest of the week because the Russian doctors at our school didn't want us spreading the disease to our students or the rest of Russia. I guess it's a good thing they quarentined us; it turns out that Myriam, one of the sick teachers, has Bronchitis and the beginnings of pneumonia. Yeah, it was pretty bad. Pretty much the only time any of us were aloud to leave the apartment is when I'd go to the school everyday at lunch and dinner to bring the girls back their meals. Thank you, Mother, for making sure I was well stocked with Zicam before I left.
All of that time we were stuck in the apartment resulted in us having to find ways to entertain ourselves. We had some pretty intense games of Connect Four (at which I proved to be horrible), hide-and-go-seek tag (Yes, we played in our apartment that doesn't even have enough beds for all of us, and I was the champion), and ultimate spoons (from which I still have battle scars). Fun times, at least for those of us that didn't really get sick. I even discovered a new talent:
Yes, I'm sure you're all very impressed. I can put spoons over my eyes and wear them like glasses. Oh, the things you learn about yourself while living abroad.
A shot from my kitchen window: the sun starting to set in the Russian woods.
Standing by the snow piles from the cleared driveway in my courtyard.
The last remnants of chocolate and bannana blini. A heavenly escape from egg-blocks.
